This project called for the development of a lean-back, reversible/removable seat design within a tight deadline of just two days. The strict timeline negated any ability to modify the tool for the boat deck to accommodate a new design, as tooling was already in production.
The design evolved into a simple and elegant solution, using two rails which could be easily installed without a tooling change. Pins integrated into the seat are able to glide into place and lock naturally by gravity assist without the use of complicated latches or expensive locks. The result is a comfortable, highly adjustable, multipurpose seat that is still being used in multiple boat models almost ten years later.
